>New Candle Scents & Aromatherapy on the Way!

>

Happy Sunday every one! I hope this day finds you full of joy and happiness. We are having another lovely and sunny day at the beach.
David got up early yesterday and poured a whole bunch of our Granny’s Apple Pie scented wax melts to get ready from an upcoming event we are participating in (see picture at left). I then had the workshop to myself all afternoon so that I could develop and test some new candle fragrances. We recently found a company in Oregon that produces candle fragrance oils that are soy based ~ so we’re very excited to give them a try!

Fragrance oils are one of those items that have heavily guarded trade-secret ingredients; however we’re pretty sure that there is a bit of petroleum-based liquids in the oil. Luckily the amount of fragrance we add to the wax makes any fumes which emit from our candles a very low dose of anything bad. However, David and I are going to slowly but surely replace any oils that we currently use with these new soy based oils that we just found.

We tested a new Pumpkin fragrance which is a sweet pumpkin – David says it reminds him of opening a can of pumpkin and adding a nice dollop of whipped cream on the top. We’ll see how it smells when it burns, but I can say that it smells pretty good sitting in our cooling chamber. Yum!

We also gave a new Magnolia scent a try. We are currently working on finding just the right Magnolia for our friends at CremeMagnolia.net. This is a very nice floral – David even likes it!

Now on to the fun stuff…I pulled out all my 100% natural essential oils and started mixing them. Aromatherapy is so popular right now that I’d love to add some true aromatherapy candles to our product line. I mixed up a nice Lavender & Peppermint; Lavender, Patchouli & Orange; Grapefruit & Tangerine as well as gave a pre-mixed essential oil blend called Relaxing from Bramble Berry (great company in Bellingham, WA).

We’ll start test burning in a few days. Soy wax actually needs some cure time and about two weeks is perfect as it absorbs the oils.

I’m definitley enjoying today and going to do some reading, writing (this post), and general web surfing this afternoon – – of course, I’ll make time for a quick jaunt to the beach…at least in the Jeep (I think I broke my toe last night running into the corner of a wall in the dark – ouch!).

Have a great day!

Marie
